blog_mips.jpgThe deadline for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Consumer Assessment for Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) for Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), is quickly approaching for providers. All providers who opt to participate in CAHPS for MIPS must be enrolled with the CMS Quality Payment Program (QPP) by June 30, 2017.

Through MIPS, CMS has increased the focus on patient engagement, and rewards or penalizes providers through reimbursement for meeting goals based on four performance categories. Each category holds a value contributing to an annual MIPS final score: Quality-60%, Improvement Activities-15%, Advancing Care Information-25%, and Cost- 0% for 2017. Eligible professionals may receive a bonus, a penalty, or no payment adjustment.
